Wisewood Lantern Making: Train the Trainer Workshop

Are you a teacher, group leader, or community leader who lives, meets or works in Wisewood? Come and learn how to make lanterns for an upcoming parade, so you can teach the skills to your group or class!

On 29 November 2025 we'll be hosting a community lantern parade in Wisewood, for and with Wisewood residents. All ages are welcome and encouraged to join in: the route will be accessible. Our funding doesn't stretch to working with every group ourselves, but we know lots of people will be interested in learning to make lanterns for the parade – so we're hosting a FREE Train the Trainer session this September!

Meet lead artists Patrick Amber and Jo Veal, who will teach you how to make and decorate a basic lantern, so you can share the skills with your group and all make lanterns together for the parade. The session will be hands on – you will be making a lantern yourself too – and there will be plenty of time for questions. We'll also provide an instruction sheet and short film, to help you remember the steps.

The session will run at Wisewood Primary School, 3.30pm – 5.30pm on Monday 22 September. If you're interested but not able to make this session, please get in touch.
