Fish Out Of Water: Mechanical Meet-Up

Interested in engineering? Love to tinker with things and see how they work? Good at designing mechanical marvels, large or small? We need you!

Our human powered, fully articulated ‘Fish Out Of Water’ sculpture will be heading out and about to different outdoor events in North Sheffield this summer, but before then artist Dan Jones needs your help working out how to design and build it. Join him to help explore how the sculpture will develop into its final form, and to take a deep dive into the fishy engineering that underpins it.

Come along to RivelinCo’s Neighbourhood Arts Space to chat to Dan about the moving sculpture, take a look at photos, drawings and designs, and share your thoughts on the build. There’ll be sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, and plenty of pencils for scribbling!

This is a free event, but please book a place if you can so we know how many people will be attending. Children and young people are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult. The events runs 11:30am until 1:30pm but you are welcome to just drop by for a while, you don’t need to stay the whole time.

Our full access statement is coming soon. The space doesn’t have steps but there is a plastic ridge across the door frame. We have an accessible all-gender toilet with baby change, and we will have air purifiers running. We have a portable hearing loop.
