Artist Support Hub: Making Events Happen

Are you an artist or creative freelancer in Sheffield who wants to put on their own events? Have you put on DIY, fringe or voluntary events before and want to know how to scale them up? This is the workshop for you!

During the session you’ll explore:
– putting on events in different settings, for example indoor vs. outdoor
– making and working to a plan, schedule and budget
– health and safety, insurance and risk assessments
– practical considerations for different target audiences and access needs

This session will be led by Finn Warman. Finn is the Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Andro and Eve, a queer arts organisation based in Sheffield. With a background in theatre design, Finn has worked as an artist, facilitator, producer and event manager in the cultural and education sector for 20 years. Specialising in large-scale participatory arts projects, they have worked with organisations across the North of England including Handmade Parade, Contact, Manchester, Royal Exchange Manchester, Opera North, and Right Up Our Street in Doncaster.

In 2016 Finn started producing events in Sheffield to celebrate queer culture under the name Andro and Eve, and in 2018 set up a social enterprise to build upon this work. Andro and Eve collaborate with artists on accessible creative projects and events that explore queer stories, providing talent development and performance opportunities for LGBTQ+ artists, while creating a space for connection for the South Yorkshire LGBTQ+ community. The event will take place at the Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BX. The venue has level access, a lift, and accessible toilets. There are gendered and non-gendered toilets available. Assistance dogs are welcome at the venue.
