The Great Pause

The Great Pause was a creative intergenerational project, led by artists Imogen Ashby and Wemmy Ogunyankin, and working in partnership with Hillsborough Primary School and Trinity Church. Eight Year 5 children were partnered with eight people aged 60+ from the community, and together they spent 6 weeks creatively exploring similarities and differences between their experiences of the Covid-19 lockdowns. The project culminated in a photography exhibition, with portraits co-designed by the pairs, celebrating lessons learned in lockdown, and what we have in common despite our age. The project was part of Sheffield’s city-wide Stories from the Pandemic project, funded by Compassionate Sheffield.
