Neighbourhood Artist Call-Out: Stannington Illustrated Map

Closing date:

18-Jul-2024 12:00

Job description

Since the start of this year, RivelinCo has been working with Sheffield City Council to manage the delivery of the Economic Recovery Fund (ERF) in Stannington. The ERF is a grant fund supporting work to improve local high streets and encourage residents and visitors to spend their time and shop there. Many areas of Sheffield have received this fund, and you may have noticed them sprucing up shopfronts, adding benches, street art, planters and much more!

Our project is called ‘Connecting Stannington’. Stannington is a beautiful and leafy suburb of Sheffield, nestled between Rivelin & Loxley Valleys. It’s made up of three distinct shopping areas, the rural ‘village’ area, and then two more urbanised locales further towards Malin Bridge. As part of our project, we’re looking for an artist to create a map of Stannington on this theme, bringing all three shopping areas together, profiling businesses, and depicting other points of interest (the library, parks, places of worship etc). We want all residents across Stannington to be able to see what they have on their doorstep, in a creative, fun yet recognisable way!

The maps will be printed and displayed on noticeboards in the three shopping areas, as well as printed in another format (e.g. booklets/tote bags tbc) which will be distributed to businesses and community organisations across Stannington.

The artist fee for this project is £600, which covers approximately three days of work at £200 per day, split across as many days as suits you. A small additional budget is available for materials, and we will cover the printing costs separately.

Applications close at midday on Friday 18th July.

Please do not submit finalised designs – this is an application process only.
