Job description

We’re looking for 6 Neighbourhood Artists to co-design and deliver exciting creative community projects in 6 local areas. The projects will explore people’s joys, challenges, and hopes about where they live, providing us with data that we’ll use to make sure our future programme is relevant to our communities. We’re collaborating with brilliant community partners in each area who will help guide and shape the projects and will also be part of the artist recruitment process.

The 6 areas are:

Hillsborough and Malin Bridge
Community partners: Hillsborough Exchange Shopping Centre, local independent businesses, Age UK Sheffield, & Artworks South Yorkshire

Foxhill
Community partner: Foxhill Forum

Parson Cross
Community partners: Parson Cross Initiative & Parson Cross Library

Stannington
Community partners: Stannington Library & Christchurch Stannington

Winn Gardens
Community partners: Winn Gardens, Zest & St John’s

Wisewood
Community partners: Wisewood Primary School & Friends of Wisewood

This is the perfect opportunity for a socially engaged artist or group of artists, who are keen to work on a creative place-based project with local people.

At a glance, we need:

· A place-based creative project which engages lots of local people, responds to the local context, and asks our questions

· A project which can be delivered within the outlined budget

· A project which can be delivered between May and November 2025

· A project which aims for at least 60% of materials used to be recyclable, reused, or borrowed/shared

£5000 is available for each large commission, and £2,500 for each small commission, plus a materials budget and a huge package of other support.

Please download the call-out pack below to find out more details and how to apply. You can also download a plain text version of the pack, or listen to it as an audio file.

The deadline for Stage 1 is 5pm on Monday 3rd March 2025.

We will also be holding open Q & A sessions online on:

Wednesday 12 February: 2pm – 3pm
