Hire Our Space!

Happy news! In 2026 RivelinCo moved into a bigger former shop front on Middlewood Road. The space is now our base, and we’d also like to share it with you!

About the space

The address is 96-100 Middlewood Road, Sheffield S6 4HA – it is on the end of the row of shops opposite Hillsborough Bookshop.

We’ve only just moved in, so we’re currently undertaking an access audit so we can build the access statement for the space. We’ll update this page with the full spec, including photos and room/doorway sizes etc, when this is complete.

The space is a large, bright multi-use space with two large windows and a door facing the busy high street. There are up to 20 colourful chairs and 8 folding tables to use in various layouts. We have good, fast WiFi. There is also a small kitchen, and two toilets, including one which is accessible.

We have bike racks at the front of the building, and bus and tram routes stop within 2 minutes walk. For more detailed information about accessibility, transport and the space please click here.

What could I do there?

Everything we host here must be for cultural or community benefit. That means we’re especially interested in activities that are creative, artistic, and/or support our community. You can hire the space closed (just for you or your group) or open (for the public).

Examples of things it could be used for:

  • Creative workshops and community drop-ins
  • Book clubs, knit and natters, community board game groups
  • A meeting, AGM, talk or small celebration for a community group/charity
  • A pop-up creative event, small screening, or exhibition
  • A student project or thinking space
  • A social space for tea and biscuits after a local litter pick, or a food bank collection
  • Artist rehearsal or R&D for a project
  • Community pharmacists hosting blood pressure checks or giving out information
  • This is not a full list – we’d love to hear your ideas!

Examples of things it can’t be used for:

  • Private parties e.g. birthdays and weddings
  • Projects that require full privacy and therefore wouldn’t work with our visible high street location e.g. nude life drawing
  • Late night activities: as we share the building with residential flats events must be finished and quiet by 9pm

We cannot guarantee an audience for your event, but we will include it on a What’s On poster displayed in the shop window, a listing on our website, an entry in our monthly newsletter, and we will generally be happy to share your social media posts too.

We have a ticketing platform and are happy to ticket your event for you, if you like. There is no additional charge to do this for activities that are free for the public. Paid activities will have a small additional charge.

Please note, most weekdays between 9am and 6pm the space is shared as it’s adjacent to our office, and the walls are not completely soundproof, so please bear this in mind when pitching your ideas. Our small staff team will also be sharing toilets and the kitchen area during your hire if it’s a weekday, but there are routes to access these which should involve minimal to no disruption.

How do I hire it and how much does it cost?

The space is available to hire from just £20 per hour. It is cheapest Tuesdays – Fridays between 10am and 5pm, because that’s when we’re also in the office so we don’t need additional staffing. Costs will be a little more out of hours. We can consider discounts for full days or consecutive days (e.g. a full day or week of artist R&D).

If the hire charges are outside what you or your group can afford, we can consider a few partnership activities each year which are on pay-what-you-can hire basis. This is reserved for activities which offer significant cultural or community benefit and are well-suited to be part of our programme.

All hire income directly supports our arts and community work in the area – thank you!

To book, please email hire@rivelinco.org or give us a call on 0114 327 1670. When you send your email, please include answers to the following questions:

  • Your name (and the name of your group if relevant)
  • Your contact details (or those of your group if relevant)
  • The date/s and time/s you’d ideally like to use the space
  • What you would like to use it for, and whether it is a ‘closed’ activity (just you/your group, e.g. a meeting) or an ‘open’ activity (e.g. for the public)
  • If the activity is for the public, who is the target audience?

Please note we reserve the right to say no to a hire if we feel it will not be suitable for the space or our community, if it’s not in line with our values, or if we don’t have capacity to host it – for example we cannot commit to hires every weekend as we are a very small team.
