Ugandan Bark Cloth: Stitch and Stick

Join team Afri-Co-Lab and RivelinCo for a day of fabric exploring, mini-making, chit-chatting and upcycling! We will journey through Ugandan Culture and history exploring Ugandan Bark Cloth; sharing and learning traditional Ugandan crafting techniques along the way.
Combining Ugandan Barkcloth with leftover fabrics to upcycle yourself a lavender bag. Learn a Ugandan weaving technique, to weave yourself a bark cloth and kitenge bookmark. Then spend the afternoon combining all of your skills, knowledge and creativity into our final make of the day: an art piece collaged from Barkcloth and a couple of our favourite Ugandan fabrics and materials.
By the end of the session, you will have learnt loads about Ugandan Bark Cloth, had a go at some traditional Ugandan weaving techniques, upcycled yourself a lavender bag, and collaged your own unique piece of art.
This workshop is all about being creative, trying new things, sharing skills and our Ugandan culture; we will be:
