Join Nik Perring – author and Sheffield Libraries’ former Writer in Residence – for a series of 6 creative writing workshops. Nik’ll show you that writing really good stuff is easy and fun. He’ll show you how to find your best ideas and how to turn those into stories, poems, and performance pieces that you can be proud of. No experience needed and all materials are provided! See below for more about what we’ll be doing each week:

13 September (Week One): Where We Find Our Ideas
Uncovering good ideas that mean something to you is easier than you think. Find them and turn them into brilliant pieces.

20 September (Week Two): Writing About Who We Are
Turn experiences – good or bad, true or made up – into work people will love and relate to. We’ll focus on ourselves, where we’re from, where we live, and where we want to go.

27 September (Week Three): Rebel!
Write about those things that get on our nerves. Moan! Complain! And then give the world solutions.

4 October (Week Four): Genre Writing
Is there a genre you’d like to focus on? Horror? Fantasy? Romance? Nik’ll show you how to tackle genre conventions, and have fun doing it.

11 October (Week Five): Poetry, Spoken Word, and Rap
Learn how to rhyme, freestyle, and free verse about the things that mean the most to you.

18 October (Week Six): Writing to Prompts/For Competitions
Learn how to turn images into starting points for top quality fiction and poetry. Pro tips and tricks to make your work stand out!

Sessions take place on Tuesdays, 2pm – 3:30pm at the Bradbury Makers’ Shed in Hillsborough Park.
