Cinema Club Presents… Taster Sessions: A Star Is Born, Singin’ In The Rain, and Disney’s Encanto!
Welcome to our social cinema! From classics to blockbusters to documentaries to global films, join us for weekly cinema screenings every Thursday at Gathering Ground, as well as regular family screenings at weekends and during school holidays, and regular dementia-friendly screenings on weekdays.

A Star Is Born (15)
Thursday 26 May, from 6.30pm – The Pavilion
Bradley Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers – and falls in love with – struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight.
This is a free taster session for our weekly Cinema Club, which will be part of the full programme starting in June. Refreshments will be available to purchase during the event.
Singin’ in the Rain (U)
Dementia-friendly and relaxed screening, captioned, all ages welcome
Friday 27 May, from 1pm – The Pavilion
Comedy, romance, great musical numbers, stars at their best and a fond recreation of a bygone moviemaking era. “Gotta dance!”; sings star and co-director Gene Kelly. But the imperative of the film’s storyline is gotta talk! Silents are giving way to Talkies – and a hoofer-turned-matinee-idol (Kelly) is caught in that bumpy transition, as well as his buddy (Donald O’Connor), prospective ladylove (Debbie Reynolds) and shrewish co-star (Jean Hagen) in a hilarious Oscar-nominated performance. Singin’ in the Rain is pure singin’, dancin’, laughin’, lovin’, moviewatchin’ joy.

Disney’s Encanto (PG)
Saturday 28 May, from 11am – The Pavilion
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto.
This is a free taster session for our regular family cinema screenings for all ages, which will be part of the full programme starting in June. Refreshments will be available to purchase during the event.
